I’ve signed a contract with Cambridge University Press to write a book on Language Policy in Action.

In 2022, I hosted two online symposia. The first looked at the relationship between language and development, featuring contributions by Joseph Lo Bianco, Stefanie Pillai, Ruanni Tupas and Tony Capstick (watch it here). The second focussed on the concepts of ‘native’ and ‘non-native speaker’, and included Jean-Marc Dewaele, Talia Isaacs and Lee Jin Choi as speakers (watch it here).

At the Sociolinguistics Symposium in June 2021, I co-organized a panel on “Unsettling language assessment” with Elana Shohamy. Our papers considered the contributions sociolinguistics can make to promoting more just and inclusive models of language assessment. See the abstracts here.
